Regional makers, menders and sewing enthusiasts will have a unique chance to access high quality rescued textiles without the trip to Melbourne.
“We had such an enthusiastic response from regional sewists during our pilot pop-up in Wodonga that we couldn’t wait to return,” founder Katrina Naish said.
“Whether you’re a quilter, a dressmaker, or someone who just hates seeing good fabric go to waste, this is for you.”
The Fabric ReStore is based in Ivanhoe East and rescues donated fabric and swing supplies that would otherwise go to landfill, rehoming more than 100kg of textiles every month through its sustainability-focused fabric shop.
As a certified social enterprise, Creative Community Space exists to reduce textile waste, build community skills, and make sustainable creativity accessible to all.
This road trip ensures regional sewing communities enjoy the same opportunities as their city counterparts.
“We know how creative and resourceful regional communities are,” Katrina said.
“By bringing the Fabric ReStore directly to Bundalong, we’re making it easier for country sewists to access quality fabric at affordable prices, while helping keep textiles out of landfill.”
Visitors to the Fabric ReStore in East Ivanhoe can explore a curated selection of rescued fabrics, haberdashery, patterns and sewing notions largely sourced from deceased estates and downsizing households.
The road trip will focus mainly on patchwork fabrics and also welcomes donations of fabric and sewing supplies.
Each pop-up supports Creative Community Space’s broader mission of reducing textile waste, teaching sewing skills and strengthening creative community networks.
