It was supposed to be held in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Saturday, November 25, the Flowerdale CFA hosted a well-deserved afternoon tea to celebrate the milestone.
Captain and 40-year CFA life member Brian Makin said the celebratory event at the station was fantastic, with over 45 community members gathering alongside members of Flowerdale CFA and neighbouring brigades.
“We thoroughly enjoyed receiving our 75th certificate after it was unable to be presented in 2020,” Mr Makin said.
“In 2025, we will hit 80 years.“
Six service awards were handed out to members, ranging from five to 45 years, while two became brigade life members and three became CFA life members.
“It was wonderful to see our members recognised for the work that they do and receive their certificates and medals in front of their community,” Mr Makin said.
“Our brigade is full of friends who are willing to help wherever they are needed.
“We are most proud of our response and getting the job done for our community.”
The Flowerdale brigade was first registered with the CFA on September 19, 1945, with 64 men forming the Flowerdale Rural Fire Brigade.
Today, the brigade has 24 members, including 14 firefighters and 10 support members.
