Crossenvale Community House manager Rob Foran said the weekly Tuesday sessions would continue “for as long as people need it”.
“Everyone who comes in will walk out of here with a resume, both in physical and soft copy,” he said.
The initiative comes as WISE Employment expands its community outreach.
Mr Foran emphasised the importance of being prepared for job opportunities.
“WISE Employment are starting to try and do a little bit more community development, get out into the community,” he said.
“It is important to update your resume so that you can be job-ready and pounce on any opportunities as they come, rather than reacting to the job market.”
The program addresses growing economic pressures in the area.
“Here at Crossenvale, we are seeing more and more people accessing our food relief program, which probably indicates that there is a bit less money in the community,” Mr Foran said.
“Having your resume ready to go and being as job-ready as possible just gives everyone in the community the opportunity to seize whatever comes their way.”
Brian Watts from WISE Employment will facilitate the sessions, working with small groups or individuals.
“While Brian is here, together you will get the basis of a resume done, then he will send it back to his office to get it completed,” Mr Foran said.
“As long as you are here at the start of the sessions, you should at least have a digital copy by the end of the day.”
Participants can bring their own devices, and Crossenvale will print completed resumes.
Walk-ups are welcome, though appointments are preferred.
