From a dinner table idea to a local sensation, Jim’s burger night at Cactus Country has been a resident favourite for many years. But now it’s time to say goodbye.

Some 130 people attended the last ever Jim’s burger night at Cactus Country on Saturday, November 15, enjoying a final burger and drink.
Jim Petersson and Sophie Bozon started Jim’s Burgers in December of 2023 but are now saying farewell as they prepare to move back home to Europe.
“I'm from the Netherlands and Jim is from Sweden, and we met each other at Cactus Country in 2019 during our first time working here,” Ms Bozon said.

“So Cactus Country always has a special place in our hearts.”
Ms Bozon said they were simply sitting around the dinner table one night when they came up with the idea.
“We thought, what can we do at Cactus Country on a weekend to attract some more locals?” she said.
“And Jim, his passion is burgers, and that’s how we thought, okay, Jim’s Burgers sounds actually pretty cool, let’s go for it.”
Inspired by the burger parties Jim organised every time he returned home to Sweden, the couple aimed to create something similar at Cactus Country.

“A fun night where people have a delicious burger, a good vibe and a good drink, so that’s what we created,” Ms Bozon said.
“And we first thought to do it only for a couple of weeks as a pop-up thing, but locals loved it, and they said no, you can't stop, actually you have to continue this.
“So we continued.”
The couple liked to give out a little award every burger night to thank the people who visited the most.
“Sometimes people were coming for like 13 to 14 times during a season,” she said.
The title of most popular burger is split between the ‘triple onion’ and ‘the classic’, Ms Bozon said.
The triple onion burger has caramelised onion, pickled onion and fried onion with homemade burger sauce on top and a double smashed patty with cheddar cheese.
The classic burger has a double smashed patty with cheddar cheese, pickles, red onion, tomato, lettuce and homemade burger sauce.
Ms Bozon said they were incredibly grateful for all the local support they have received.
“It has been such a fun experience, so it's bittersweet to leave, but going out with a bang is kind of cool,” she said.
