Last Sunday’s annual Helping Hands Charity golf event with 94 players raised an overall total of $4,450.

The key purpose of Helping Hands is fundraising for Yarrawonga Health to assist with the provision of medical equipment and other equipment needs that will enhance services provided to the Yarrawonga/Mulwala community.
Helping Hands is dedicated to improving the quality of life of residents and patients through supporting Yarrawonga Health services.
Winners Lew and Bronwyn Nagle, and Max and Kerry Currie had such a blazing score Mr Nagle thought he was elsewhere.
The Helping Hands Committee is a vibrant group of community members who seek support in raising funds through direct donations and the annual Golf Charity Day is an important event.
The significant work of Helping Hands was referred to by Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s President Laurie Bridgeman who said the charity golf day was for “a very, very worthy cause”.
“We are very proud to be running this event,” he said last Sunday. “We’ve been involved with this organisation since its inception.
“Vivian Spilva OAM is a foundation member – since 2016, July 27. We’re very proud to present this cheque of $3,840 to you.” Loud applause followed. With $610 from raffles, the overall total was $4,450.

Twenty-three groups of four players played Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s Lake Course.
The mixed ambrose event produced many wonderful scores, with the team comprising the Nagles and Curries firing an excellent 55.25 to win by .50 from Anna Castles, Lewis Scerri, and Helen and Philip Johansen.
In accepting the voucher prize, Lew Nagle thanked everyone involved in the running of the event and his playing partners.
“I thought I was in India today because the Curries set us on fire!” the Sacred Heart College Principal said. “Helping Hands do a fantastic job.”
Vivian expressed her thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in the big day, including special reference to sponsors, the pro shop and the players.
She will step down from the committee at the end of this month. Yarrawonga Health Board member Peter Bennett referred to the Helping Hands Committee being so energetic and providing wonderful support to Yarrawonga Health.
Viv was a big part of it as chair for 5 and a half years. Another very competent lady Jackie Smith, took over the reins as chairperson last year.
