Goulburn Region Tourism looks to boost visitor economy

The recently formed Goulburn Region Tourism is calling on local businesses, tourism operators, event organisers and community leaders to help create a promising future for the region’s visitor economy.

GRT is aiming to grow tourism by over $150 million by 2030 and invites anyone with an interest in growing visitation to contribute their ideas through targeted surveys and local engagement events.

“We intend to put the Goulburn region firmly on the map, starting with a unified brand that captures our strengths, our people and our unique appeal,” GRT chief executive Jane Lovell said.

“For our brand to be authentic, we need to hear from people with skin in the game — the tourism groups, businesses, volunteers and event organisers who are the heart of the Goulburn visitor experience and the people who currently visit and enjoy our region.

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll be out in the region — talking with industry, visitors and the wider community.

GRT is funded by the Victorian Government and the Mitchell, Strathbogie and Greater Shepparton councils.

It is overseen by a diverse and experience board, comprising tourism industry, First Nations and local council representatives.
