Grass fire on McColl Rd, west of Kyabram

Smoke was visible from the opposite side of the town.

About 20ha of land was burnt.

The blaze is believed to have begun after a truck caught fire.

Nineteen units responded, including from Kyabram, Echuca, Rushworth, Rochester and Stanhope.

A fire helicopter left Mangalore, heading towards Kyabram. A second fire helicopter was cancelled.

Neighbours helped the fire brigade using telehandlers.
