Guides receive $7000 grant

Corowa Girl Guides have been awarded a $7000 grant to install a fence out their hall in Ball Park.

The grant, awarded by Federal Government, will ensure the young guides are safe from road traffic as they go about their activities out the front of Baden Lodge.

Local guide leader Maryann Herbert said the funding was a welcome relief.

“It’s such good news for our organisation,” she said.

“Safety is immeasurable and with all the upgrades happening around Ball Park including the Corowa Cricket Club, it’s important that we don’t get left behind.”

Ms Herbert said Girl Guides were an important part of regional communities.

“The last two years with Covid has been tough with no camping opportunities,” she said.

“Recently we have been learning new skills such as how to light a fire, how to cook on an open fire and learning how to put up a tent without instructions!”

Corowa Girl Guides offers activities outside of school available for girls aged five and helps develop their skills in a safe environment while having fun and finding friends.
