Sarah, owner of Beyond the Fringe and Lauren had initially aimed to reach their fundraising goal to shave their heads on New Year’s Eve.
But thanks to overwhelming support from the local community, the pair were able to smash their target, raising $10,200 in 10 weeks.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for getting us here,” Sarah said.
“It has been an amazing 10 weeks and we’re very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve.
“We started this because Lauren’s mum, Deb Cox, was diagnosed with lung cancer and my aim was to lift Lauren’s and her family’s spirits.
“It’s all been for a good cause and we never thought that we’d do it so quickly.”
With the support of local businesses, Sarah and Lauren held online auctions as well as selling raffle tickets to help raise funds.
For every $2000 they raised, they would dye their hair crazy colours live on social media.
Both Sarah and Lauren have been every colour from electric orange to deep turquoise since launching the fundraiser in September, with the money raised going towards local cancer research at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.
Lauren thanked everyone who supported the fundraiser and made special mention of Sarah who has been the driving force behind them achieving their goal.
“I’m just so happy and overwhelmed, and I couldn’t have done it without her,” she said.
Anyone wishing to donate can still do so via the Beyond the Fringe Facebook page.
