Support for a new Deniliquin Hospital is expected to ramp up when the Murrumbidgee Local Health District announces a new chief executive officer.

This follows the resignation of Jill Ludford, who has been in the position for 11 years.

Ms Ludford recently announced her retirement from NSW Health, at the start of a year considered vital for the future of health services in the Deniliquin district.

Edward River Council has prioritised a new hospital as part of a broader health precinct as a key advocacy area.

While funding will come from the NSW Government, support of MLHD is considered a vital component of the advocacy.

Ms Ludford said she had“ made the very difficult decision to step down as the chief executive, making way for new leadership as I transition into retirement”.

“I have been immensely proud to be the chief executive, and work with incredible staff and clinicians to deliver high quality healthcare to the many thousands of people across the district,” she said.

Ms Ludford’s last day as chief executive will be February 13. Executive director operations Carla Bailey will act as chief executive while recruitment to the role progresses.
