Council’s overall performance was 65 points, which is above the statewide average of 58 and the regional centre average of 57.
Across the 55 measured indicators, 25 improved, eight remained unchanged and 23 declined, which was described in the August council meeting as reflecting stable community sentiment, with improvements in customer service offsetting declines in a small number of service areas.
The worst performing area was public toilets at 49 points, which was higher than the statewide average of 47 but lower than the regional centre average of 58.
Public toilets also received the largest change from the previous year, dropping by five points.
Sealed local roads also performed poorly at 49 and councillor Rod Schubert attributed this to confusion with state roads during the council meeting.
Waste service received 66 overall, with a mix of 53 for red bin collection, 73 for yellow bins and 79 for green bins.
Purple bins were not included in the survey.
The highest result was 80 for libraries.
The largest improvement was in time for council to resolve matters, which increased by seven points to 66.
Mayor Shane Sali said the results were a fantastic outcome and reflected hard work across the council organisation.
“We’re not perfect, no council is, but we are well above average,” Cr Sali said.
The survey was conducted by Thinkfield and included 600 responses.
