The Hoppers flew up the Riverina Highway to take on neighbours Berrigan on a cold winter’s day.
Rennie were competitive all day with the Saints skill and decision making with the ball the difference between the two teams with the locals winning by 56 points.
Berrigan were able to occasionally run the ball from half back to end up hitting a forward target, whereas the Hoppers struggled to quickly move the ball through half forward.
Jack Kennedy played a blinder on ball, well supported by Bigger in the pivot, McKimmie who has put together a great June and Strawhorn who was continually in a 3 on 1 situation but kept keeping the ball in his forward line.

Berrigan 13.13.91 defeated Rennie 2.0.12.
Another tough day out for the Rennie boys and girls however some great passages of play and improved skills from the team made for an exciting game.
The game started out strong for the Rennie kids moving the ball well towards the forward line and a huge kick into full forward by ‘Milo’ to a waiting Jasper almost resulted in a goal for Rennie, if only the young fellow could kick a bit further and the scoreboard would have looked a bit different by quarter time.
Second quarter started out with a bit more run through the centre with Laynee joining the game a bit early this week from the netball court.
Quarter three saw Berrigan run away with it a bit on the scoreboard but also saw Chase’s first of two goals for the game.
Three quarter time and the rest of the netball crew join the game to produce some push forward out of the centre and awesome tackling.
With strong backline pressure from Tyler and a great defensive game from the whole Rennie team the Hoppers kept Berrigan goalless in the last quarter with Chase Payne’s second goal on the board winning the quarter for Rennie.
Goals: C. Payne 2.

A foggy wet early morning start at Berrigan this week, but thankfully the sun was starting to peek through once the game started.
First point scored by Aiden with Berrigan quickly replying with a goal. Jasper had an early free kick from a high tackle and Robbo was again producing some great tackling.
Aiden then came through with the goods kicking Rennie’s first goal. By the end of the first half the rain had arrived providing some great entertainment for the spectators with some slipping and sliding around.
This didn’t stop Robbo banging a fan goal for Rennie. Hugo had a brief break on the sidelines in the second half after popping a hammy but after a quick rub down from the trainer (coach Red) was good to go.
A rough and tumble game for the kids but they managed to come away with a win.
Awards: Biggers Floorworld - Hugo Bott, Lake Mulwala Bakery - Todd Lawless, Robinson’s Farming - Maddox Oughton, Papalia’s - Jasper Rhodes.
Hopefully off to Blighty this week.

Although the Hoppers didn’t come away with a win the girls should be proud of their efforts.
Rennie had a strong start winning the first quarter by 5 goals. Ella was super in GA playing against a much more experienced player sending her to the bench at 3/4 time! Now that’s a compliment! Sophia and Leah fitted in well in their first games for A grade excellent effort girls.

Berrigan 52 defeated Rennie 39
The Rennie girls started strong in the first quarter and welcomed back Jess from injury.
Jess’s return unfortunately did not last long and was taken off halfway through the first quarter unfortunately succumbing to the same injury.
Scarlett replaced Jess in GA and played well in goals all game, her and Danielle moved well around the circle and got some great goals.
Celine and Maddy had another great game and combined well in defence, got their hands to some great rebounds.
Celine showed her captain skills and was a positive voice down the court.
Ebony worked hard in WA and deserved the best player award with her strong passes down the court.
Berrigan were quite physical and stepped up their game in the second and third quarters and took control of the game.
However, the final quarter was all Rennie. The girls used their voices more and worked as a team to win the final quarter, unfortunately in the end their last quarter dominance was not enough to peg back Berrigan’s lead.

The game against Berrigan was a very fun and enjoyable game to watch.
The girls were able to mix up their positions which showed some new combinations that could come in handy against some of the upcoming games.
Hannah Shoppee stepping into centre for a quarter, using her long reach to deflect passes and intercept in the centre third.
Ella Rhodes and Scarlett York both had a run in the defensive circle and showed their dominance against accurate shooters.
Sophia Shaw and Sophie O’Dwyer used their height differences in the goal ring for some fun and flare when putting their goals up.
Abbey Coghill, Mia Doherty and Steph Munro all showcased their abilities to lead the team and create beautiful passages of play from one end of the court to the other.
Some tough games coming up, and with a few players heading away for the school holidays, the Hoppers are going to have to put in the work and communication on court.
Great game girls!
