Public input is now being sought into the style and location of the street furniture and other aesthetic elements to be installed in the newly upgraded area.
Murrumbidgee Council general manager John Scarce said council is keen to work with residents and business people to create a community hub with a fresh look and feel that everyone can enjoy.
“With the structural improvements complete, it is a blank canvas, with everyone able to provide their views on the style, colours, layout and elements that will be incorporated into the area,” he said.
The council has created an online survey which is available on its website and Facebook page, with paper copies available at all offices.
“By providing feedback, people can help create a functional and beautiful public space,” Mr Scarce said.
“The survey closes next Tuesday, February 20.”
The long awaited Brolga Place upgrades began in April last year, when the old awning was demolished.
This has been replaced with new shade awnings, which have been designed to look like large aeroplane wings.
The concept was developed in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, businesses and community groups.
The upgrades have been on council’s agenda for at least eight years, with initial funding for the project awarded in 2016.
The $1.5 million allocation came from the pool of funds offered to council after it was created through the merger of the former Jerilderie and Murrumbidgee Shire councils.
Due to the increasing cost of materials between then and the start of the project, council sought approval and was allowed to allocate a further $870,605 from round five of the Stronger Country Communities Fund for the project.
The survey can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/BrolgaPlace, or using the link on the Murrumbidgee Council Facebook page.
