Is your smoke alarm ready?

Local firefighters will come to your home, provide safety advice and, if required, install a new 10-year smoke alarm for free.

“We can’t smell a fire while sleeping so that’s why working smoke alarms are crucial,” FRNSW Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell said.

“A working detector is the first line of defence in a fire, alerting residents and giving them time to escape.

“If your smoke alarm is a faded yellow colour or you’re not sure if it’s working properly, it’s time to replace it.”
