A dedicated volunteer at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Community Learning Centre (YMCLC) is celebrating a significant milestone of service to the local community through the Australian Taxation Office's Tax Help Program.
Jan Parker has been assisting community members with their tax returns for 25 years, having commenced her volunteer role in 1999.
Throughout her tenure, she has helped hundreds of clients including low-income earners, retirees, students, and individuals experiencing financial hardship.
“Jan has assisted hundreds of clients over the past years,” YMCLC Executive Officer Julie-Anne Clarke said.
“She is known for her caring, supportive, and approachable nature.
“Jan makes tax time less stressful by explaining things clearly and offering trusted guidance,” Ms Clarke said.
The free and confidential Tax Help service will be available at YMCLC on Monday, July 21, Wednesday, July 30, and Friday, August 8.
The program caters to individuals earning around $60,000 or less with simple tax affairs. And is delivered by trained, accredited volunteers like Jan.
Clients must bring essential documentation, including assessment notices, income statements, managed fund statements, dividend statements, and their tax file number.
Tax Help is a community-based program where trained volunteers provide a free and confidential service to help people complete their tax returns at tax time.
The program aims to provide both assistance and education for completing tax returns.
Appointments can be made by calling (03) 5744 3911.
YMCLC extends heartfelt thanks to Jan Parker for her exceptional contribution to the community and her inspiring 25-year legacy of service.
