Its weekly walking group will be heading off on a leisurely stroll from 9.15am on Tuesday, September 8.
The walk will set off from Cobram Community House and return one hour later, just in time for a lovely homemade morning tea.
Walk co-ordinator, and CCM community engagement officer, Paula Hansen said the regular walking group was part of the Heart Foundation Walking Program.
“We do that every Tuesday,” she said.
“We have a lovely group of ladies and men who come along, and some dogs, and it’s a really nice social walk.
“But this year, as we did last year, we’ve registered with Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, as part of Women’s Health Week to make a little bit more a deal of it and shine some light on women’s health.
“So we’ll finish off our walk with a delicious morning tea back here at the Community House.”
Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is a national not-for-profit dedicated to empowering women across Australia to enjoy their best health and wellbeing at every life stage.
“It’s free to take part and everyone is welcome, and not just women,” Paula said.
“We’re promoting women's health, but men are very welcome too.
“We’ll have Women’s Health information back here at the Community House.
“All provided by Jean Hailes Foundation,
“And the Tuesday will be the second day of Women’s Health Week, which happens to be the ‘Move It’ day.
“Each day during Women’s Health Week there’s a different emphasis.
“Day one’s theme is ‘To Fuel’ and it’s all about nutrition tips.
“Day two is ‘Move It’, Day three is ‘Rest’.
“Day four is ‘Breathe’, and Day five is ‘Connect’.
“So it was a nice tie-in with what we do on a Tuesday.
“It’s a good excuse to go and exercise and move your body.”
There is also a tie-in to day five, with the walking group being a great place to connect and make friends.
The walk will leave from Cobram Communty House, 43-45 Punt Rd, at 9.15am.
