The final touches are being made on the local NeNe Chicken store, located at 20 Tallarook St, with the new food venue scheduled to open its doors at the end of September.
NeNe Chicken, which has been operating at venues across South Korea and, more recently, Australia since 1999, boasts a large variety of flavours and a diverse menu.
Customers can either order their fried chicken in its original form, or can choose between up to eight flavours of spices.
The Seymour store will be the first NeNe Chicken in regional Victoria, with the closest to town based in Epping.
While it’s a new addition to the area, the store is co-owned by some familiar faces.
“I’m not new to Seymour, I’ve been in Seymour for the last 20 years,” co-owner Bob Singh said.
“I own the Subway in Seymour, the Caffeine Bistro and Smoking Joes. This will be my fourth business in Seymour.”
Mr Singh said bringing NeNe Chicken to the area was all about providing additional food options for local people.
“I live locally, and I was looking for an alternative for fried chicken,” he said.
“I reckon we have opportunity here. Lots of opportunity with fried chicken fans.”
Customers can opt to dine in or takeaway, with NeNe Chicken marketing itself as an easy way to get a great feed.
Mr Singh said he hoped people would support the locally run business.
“We are owned by locals. We’ve been serving the community for the last 20 years,” he said.
“I think locals should have faith in us that we can give them the best-flavoured fried chicken.”
