Transported from the Kotta Railway to the port more than 40 years ago, the station has since served as the paddle-steamers’ ticket box.
Removal works for the project will be undertaken across two days, on Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7.
The station will subsequently be relocated to the corner of Echuca-Mitiamo Rd and Lockington Rd.
Campaspe Shire Deputy Mayor Colleen Gates said the historic landmark had served its time at the Port of Echuca and now it was time for a change.
“Council is glad to see Kotta Station return home. We were only too happy to comply with the request and we have given the committee our full support,” Cr Gates said.
Cr Gates said the removal of the station would give the community more access to the views of the wharf and the river.
“We’ve often heard from the Echuca community that views of the river need to be enhanced in the Port of Echuca,” she said.
“When Kotta Station is removed, our team will also remove the solid fence that blocks the view across the wharf. A fence allowing for clearer visibility will be installed.
“These works will not affect the ability for visitors to access the Port of Echuca or any operating businesses, and I encourage people to venture down to the port to check out this moment in history.”
