For Alysha Chisholm, this spectacular display is more than twinkling lights and festive inflatables; it’s a cherished family tradition that traces back to her childhood memories.
“Our family always did Christmas lights when I was growing up,” Alysha said.
“Ever since we moved into this house 10 years ago, we’ve filled both the inside and outside of our home with lots of Christmas decorations, turning it into a cheerful holiday wonderland.”
What began years ago with a couple of small blow-up decorations has steadily grown into an eye-catching display that now fills the front yard and lights up the street.
“I wanted to put up a few little blow-ups,” Alysha said.
“They ended up as tall as a house, and we just kept adding and adding every year.”
The result is a festival of twinkling lights and cheerful inflatables that has become a must-see stop during the Christmas season.
On an average night, up to 20 cars stop or slow to admire the display, but in the week leading up to Christmas, especially on Christmas Eve, Alysha said it feels like everyone in town drives past.
Alysha and Corey Chisholm with Daemon, Audry, Adelaide and Edith cherish their family tradition.
The family began setting up the decorations this year, allowing time to position the growing number of lights and inflatables carefully.
Despite the size of the display, Alysha said power costs are kept reasonable.
Most decorations are solar powered, and the plug-in blow-ups are low-voltage and not running around the clock.
Alysha and Corey share four children; Daemon, 17, Audry, 15, and Adelaide, 16, all attend Yarrawonga P-12 College and work part-time while their youngest, Edith, is seven.
Although the children sometimes claim to be embarrassed, they enthusiastically help erect every decoration each year, making it a true family effort.
“They’d definitely miss it if we didn’t do it,” Alysha said.
“It’s become a cherished family tradition and seeing the joy on people’s faces as they admire our display makes all the effort truly worthwhile.”
