After a scrappy opening, it was the class of Sean Robinson who put Mulwala’s first goal on the board with a left foot snap.
The rest of the first quarter was a stale mate with neither team able to kick a major.
The signs were promising for Mulwala however, with midfield dominance and Damien Cook collecting the ball at will at half back.
Sean Robinson once again kicked Mulwala’s opening goal of the quarter but this time it kick started a run that would see Mulwala open up a match winning lead.
Tom Dow, Billy Bardon and Beau Clarke all hit the scoreboard with the team combining for some scintillating football.
Tim Doyle and Josh Hammond have hit form at the right time of the year and their influence was huge, with their strength and drive from behind the ball a real factor.
Mulwala would have been pleased to keep Cobram goalless for the first half but some wasted opportunities meant the lead was kept to 6 goals.
Mulwala’s third quarter was utterly dominant as their spread and ball movement was too much for an injury hit Cobram team.
Harry Crossley used his vision and class to hit up targets, whilst Sean Johns and Jackson Gash ran amuck through the middle.
Reece Geary was instrumental throughout and his third quarter highlighted the impact he has, with elite kicking and intercept marking setting up numerous scoring opportunities.
The final quarter did not repeat the excitement of the third, as Cobram sat numbers behind the ball to clog up the scoring.
It worked and although Mulwala controlled the play it was not exactly Champaign football.
The result means a huge game this coming Saturday when Mulwala take on top of the table, Nathalia in the first qualifying final.
The game will be played in Moama on Saturday and promises to be an absolute beauty.

Beau Nixon was on fire up forward and kicked a bag of 6 goals for the game.
Returning from injury the young bull was in everything and was equally impressive in the air and on the ground.
Andy Miller was crucial in the ruck with fierce tackles mixed with deft touches and long left foot bullet passes.
Nathan Beasley showed he is the complete player with 30 odd possessions through middle to go with his contested marking.
Lachie Wood built a wall across half back and was impenetrable, whilst Jordan Cook looks to have found his spot at centre half forward.
Cook’s off load pass to Dennis Phibbs a clear indication of his improvement.
Sam Willett won some crucial one on one contests and was able to once again involve himself in scoring chains from half back.
Reece Norman, stepping up from the thirds, dominated the wing and provided a heap of run and carry with Cam Nye rewarding the run with some brilliant goals.
The fourth quarter snap around his body easily the pick of the goals for the game.
Slipping into 7th place, Mulwala will now take on an experienced Tungamah team on Sunday, out at Tungamah.
