The weather threatened in the morning with chilly-like conditions but cleared and the day was still an enjoyable and successful one.
Many parents, families and friends watched the children participate in sprints, relays, rotational activities, field events, sprint champions/staff/college relays, novelty races and the popular preschooler’s race.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the smiles on the faces of the students across different parts of the day.
A fall here or there, a close win or a close loss, being resilient, being a team player, helping out the teachers, enjoying lunch with loved ones, supporting the younger students plus much more was great to see.
Lourdes (Green) were the winners on the day by one solitary point!
With so many points for competing on offer, it came right down to the wire between Lourdes and Loreto (Gold).
Lourdes and Loreto were followed closely by Mercy (Blue) in third and Fatima (Red) in fourth.
The final results were as follows:
1st- Lourdes 227 points.
2nd- Loreto 226 points.
3rd- Mercy 220 points.
4th- Fatima 200 points.
Lourdes captains, Ruby Spiteri, Anna Zanin and Will Murphy were presented with the winning shield and thanked everyone in their speeches.
Days like last Thursday, can’t run smoothly without the help of parents, families and friends so thanks to all of those who were able to assist or contribute in some way during the day.
Sacred Heart Primary School would also like to thank Warwick Henderson for his assistance with the line marking, Ned Mullins and his year eleven students from Sacred Heart College, Michelle Connell, Nicole Niewenhout and the parent helpers in the canteen, staff preparation and support, the Yarrawonga Football Netball club for the use of the oval and facilities and Woods Buslines for transporting the students to and from the venue.
The children are also to be congratulated on their efforts, sportsmanship and support of each other on the day.
Some students will continue on and represent the school at the Zone Athletics to be held in Wangaratta in early term four.
