The Merrigum Community Plan will continue to ensure the community is an active, safe and resilient place to live, say regional leaders.

The five pillars of the plan are emergency preparedness, infrastructure, recreation, environment and education.
The 2026-30 iteration of the plan was developed following consultation between the Merrigum Community Group and 61 residents from the town of nearly 700 people.
The community group was established in 2004 and has worked with Greater Shepparton City Council to deliver successful initiatives such as the splash park, basketball court, public toilets and playground shade structures.
Midland Ward councillor Rod Schubert said the plan was an important milestone for the community.
“It provides a strong foundation for the future and will help guide advocacy, partnerships and project opportunities that support the needs of the Merrigum community," Cr Schubert said.
Cr Kieron Eddy commended the community group and said it “punches well above their weight”.
