Mulwala’s full police contingent

Senior Constable Alexandra (Ally) Smith started in Mulwala last Monday.

Mulwala Police Station is at its full strength of five following the recruitment of Senior Constable Alexandra (Ally) Smith who started duty on Monday, May 22.

Mulwala is a far cry from the hurly-burly police environment in Sydney where Senior Constable Smith was stationed at Camden for 12 years and promoted from Constable.

She worked in the general duty, intelligence and licensing areas of police work.

It was for lifestyle reasons why Mulwala’s newest recruit and husband Kristian, and their three children Hudson, Adelaide and Flynn chose our town.

“We visited Mulwala three times before the move,” Senior Constable Smith told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.

“It was beautiful. We thought it would be a great spot to raise a family.”

A Navy career was, in fact, Senior Constable Smith’s first choice but she is very happy to be the first member of her family to be in the police force.

“I married a non-cop!” she said.

“Kristian’s a builder and likes his fishing.”

Senior Constable Smith’s acquisition is most welcome according to Sergeant Gary Lewis whose experience will be valuable to the Mulwala and district community.
