A new charge has been laid over the death of a woman in Shepparton last year.
Adam Winmar, 29, was arrested by homicide squad detectives on Monday, February 5 and charged with negligent manslaughter.
The charge follows an incident at a property on McCubbin Dve in Shepparton on April 1, 2023.
His 27-year-old partner, Kiara Ferguson, was located with a gunshot wound and died at the scene.
The gunshot wound had come from a home-made pipe gun Mr Winmar had allegedly made.
Police allege Ms Ferguson threw the gun at Mr Winmar while he was sitting on the toilet.
It fell on the floor and discharged, and Ms Ferguson was shot in the head, police allege.
Mr Winmar had earlier been charged with possessing a firearm while a prohibited person.
Mr Winmar appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court late on Monday, February 5 where he was bailed to appear in court next in April.
