Yarrawonga College P–12 principal Damien Keel has announced the opening of a brand-new kindergarten on the Pinniger Street site at the beginning of 2026 with Goulburn Region Preschool Association (GRPSA) as the provider.
Construction is well underway and scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
GRPSA is a not for profit, early years management, approved provider for rural and regional early childhood services across Moira, Strathbogie, Greater Shepparton and Campaspe Shires, since 1988.
“The new facility will provide an additional 66 places for young children across Yarrawonga, meeting a growing community need for high-quality, early learning opportunities,” Mr Keel said.
“Having a kindergarten co-located with the college has many advantages, including smoother transitions for children moving into primary school, more convenient drop-off and pick-up for families, and the potential to establish a vibrant community hub for local services.”
The model reflects the Victorian Government’s broader vision to locate more kindergartens on school sites and Mr Keel said that as well as alleviating some of the early education waitlists in Yarrawonga, the new kindergarten would become part of the college’s long-term vision for an integrated early years and adult education learning centre on the Pinniger Street site.
Yarrawonga College P–12 is working with Law Architects to design the next stage of its capital works project after receiving funding for planning in the 2025 Victorian budget.
The overarching project will eventually consolidate all year levels onto the Gilmore Street site, creating space on Pinniger Street for expanded adult learning, including tertiary and vocational education.
“Once complete, the college will realise its vision of developing a comprehensive ‘0–99’ education and sporting precinct to support lifelong learning and connection,” Mr Keel said.
“Early discussions with tertiary and vocational providers are already underway, signalling an exciting future for education and community growth in Yarrawonga.”
GRPSA CEO Ronni Druitt said that GRPSA was thankful that early childhood has been made a State Government priority in rural and regional areas.
“Kinder on school sites also enables an easier transition to school for our little learners, and we will be able to better collaborate with schools and communities,” Ms Druitt said.
“GRPSA would like to thank the Department of Education, The Victorian School Building Authority, our educators, local MP’s and the Early Childhood Improvement Branch for their continued support.”
