In conjunction with the NSW Roads and Maritime Services, all local councils in NSW have a responsibility to provide safe, convenient and connected pedestrian routes.
Federation Council documents this information in its Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP), which is currently being updated.
The PAMP is a comprehensive strategic document and action plan that identifies locations to potentially build new pedestrian and mobility infrastructure throughout the Federation Council area. This infrastructure primarily includes footpaths, refuges and kerb ramps. Council also envisages installing tactile pads at various intersections to aid the visually impaired.
Federation council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said, Council is inviting community organisations, businesses and residents to nominate a location(s) where they believe footpaths, kerb ramps, refuges etc can be improved or newly constructed.
“This is the opportunity to let council know of locations where new footpaths, kerb ramps or refugees should be constructed to assist with pedestrian movement around our communities.
“This valuable feedback will inform the development of the draft plan which is anticipated to be ready by early 2020.”
“Once the draft plan is completed, council will place the document on public exhibition for a 28 day period” he said.
Council’s Road and Safety officer, Scott Landell’s is available to attend community meetings to present and discuss potential locations for new pedestrian and mobility infrastructure. Please contact council to discuss this opportunity.
The community is being encouraged to complete the online survey from council’s website www.federationcouncil.nsw.gov.au or provide feedback in writing and submitted in person at any Council Office or via mail to PO Box 77, Corowa NSW 2646 or via email to council@federationcouncil.nsw.gov.au
Feedback is invited up to 5pm, Friday 11 October 2019.
