Corowa and Rutherglen RSL Sub-Branch leaders are expecting the legacy left by those who fought and supported our troops to be duly recognized by locals and visitors this Friday, April 25 with annual commemorations to be held.
The well attended Dawn Services will be back again in both Corowa and Rutherglen with the Corowa service to kick off from 6am at the Corowa War Memorial followed by a gunfire breakfast at Club Corowa with tickets available at the dawn service.
Rutherglen’s dawn service begins at 5.55am at the Cenotaph in the RSL Memorial Gardens Rutherglen where attendees will see the sun rise on the commemorative day.
In terms of the marches that see residents both young and old take part as well as hundreds lining the streets, the Rutherglen march will take off from Jaspers Corner from 8.55am down to the Cenotaph with a memorial service and laying of wreaths to commence at 9am.
A morning tea, and the iconic traditional game of ANZAC Day Two-up will then commence at RSL Memorial Gardens after the completion of the service.
In Corowa, the March will be held a little later at 10.30am heading north along Sanger Street with assembly at Isabel St at 10.15am.
The main service will be held at the Corowa War Memorial from 11am with some seating available.
In Wahgunyah the march commences at 9.30am from the School of Arts Hall, down Foord St to the Memorial Garden, immediately followed by a commemorative service and laying of wreaths at Memorial Gardens.
