A 26-year-old Tocumwal man was witnessed by a homeowner in Warrick Street Yarrawonga to be in the front yard, in possession of a knife, acting erratically and allegedly trying to steal a push bike last Thursday, May 15 at about 8.45am.
The male was chased down Warrick Street by residents and held until police arrived a few minutes later.
He was arrested and charged with being in possession of prohibited weapons, cannabis and attempted theft. He has been bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates Court.
Expensive decision
A Yarrawonga man, known to have a disqualified licence, was intercepted driving his Isuzu truck near Hogans Road on May 22.
The 33-year-old was interviewed and had his truck impounded, costing him $1500.
He was later arrested in relation to a theft and summonsed to appear in court.
Drug drivers will be caught
A 36-year-old old Yarrawonga man was intercepted driving in Belmore Street on May 22 and was also known to hold a disqualified driver’s licence.
He returned a positive test to drugs and will be summonsed to attend court for disqualified driving and drug driving.
On May 19, a 27-year-old Mulwala man will have his day in court after he was intercepted and failed a preliminary drug test.
On May 10, a 20-year-old Yarrawonga male was intercepted at a preliminary testing site on Benalla Road and provided a positive oral fluid test to drugs.
He was issued a penalty notice and his driver’s licence will be suspended for 6 months.
A 39-year-old male from Yarrawonga was intercepted in Derry Drive for a routine intercept on May 17.
He provided a positive oral fluid test to Methamphetamine and will be summonsed for drug driving at a later date.
Yarrawonga Police say they are out in force and if drivers decide to drive whilst on drugs they will be caught.
“Our strike rate at the moment is fantastic,” police say.
