Officers were told a silver Mazda CX7 SUV collided with a truck on Hume Fwy, lost control and rolled just before 11am.
The driver was seen running from the scene into a nearby paddock when police arrived.
With the assistance of the Air Wing a 31-year-old Cobram man was located and taken to hospital under police guard.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
