The NSW Government said the structure was “largely constructed off‑site using modern methods of construction” before being delivered and craned into position over three days.
While this gives the appearance of a fast-moving project, the preschool is not expected to be operational until early 2027.
Completing most of the work off‑site has meant the installation could be finalised within a week, “significantly reducing noise, traffic movements, and overall impacts on the school environment.”
The modular pieces were delivered on the back of about 13 semi‑trailers.
All crane operations were carefully managed, with no loads lifted over the operational school, nearby homes or members of the public.
With the building now in place, the next phase of work will focus on connecting essential services such as electrical, plumbing and data, followed by internal fit‑out and landscaping of the outdoor play area.
Once complete, Deniliquin South Public Preschool will offer a high-quality, play‑based educational program delivered by qualified early childhood teachers and educators in line with National Regulations.
Co‑located at Deniliquin South Public School, it will accommodate up to 40 children per day and is expected to be ready for the 2027 school year, pending final service approval.
According to the NSW Government, the new facility will provide “a safe and engaging environment for preschool children” and will include two purpose‑built preschool rooms, a quality outdoor play area, administration and amenities, a staff kitchen and storage.
The Deni development is one of 100 new public preschools being delivered across the state as part of the NSW Government’s $769 million plan to rebuild public education.
Children can enrol in public preschool if they turn four years old on or before July 31 of the year they start.
Local families will be notified when enrolment applications open for Deniliquin South Preschool, expected to be around six months before the preschool’s opening.
