The tournament is the biggest tournament at a single venue in Australia with 57 courts used over an action packed four days of tennis. The successful format involves Singles matches on Good Friday, Doubles on Easter Saturday and Mixed Doubles on Easter Sunday. Easter Monday is the Finals Day where any unfinished matches are completed.
The tournament caters for all ages and abilities. This year again there is again the Under 9 division to cater for the youngest players through to the Open Events where there are some outstanding players in action. Once again there will be nearly 1500 players participating over the four days.
Entries from local players have been pleasing with a strong contingent to grace the courts. Club coaches Brady and Ronan Pritchard will be seeking family bragging rights to see who performs the best in the strong Open Singles. In A Grade, big serving current Club Champion and new Dad, Grant Chappell will be looking to add another trophy to his cabinet. Local legend John Brunner will also be another to watch out for in this event.
In B Grade Karen Kaine will be holding the local hopes. Jason Partelle, Thomas Loughnan, Andrew Brew, Olivia Corso and Eliza York will battle it out in C Grade chasing that elusive title.
In the 17/under singles Liam Pitches will be looking to use his grass court experience as an advantage over his opponents. The 15/under event Yarrawonga has a strong representation with Charli Head, Polly McRae, Stella Mulquiney, Sam Davidson, Daniel Herrod, Jack James and Liam Williams likely to be prominent throughout the draw.
In the 13/under divisions a multitude of talented locals including Jack Bassett, Tyrone Baxter, Fraser Bennett, Lachlan Bosch, Joseph Conway, Lochie Forge, Edward Judd, Portia Kaine, Mia Kennedy, Morgan McRae and Scarlett York will be enjoying the test of singles action.
The 11/under singles has always had a strong local contingent with Jayden Arnold, Lachlan Conway, Ian Dimble, Lucas Kaine, Max Loughnan, Kerth Martin, Lucy Bassett and Hayley Bennett all promising junior players. In the newly created 9/under singles Tom Conway and Tess Bassett will all enjoy the Easter Tournament.
All of these players who are taking on the challenge of singles will enjoy their experience and represent our town with enthusiasm. Most of these players are also playing a variety of Doubles and Mixed Doubles over the weekend.
With such an enormous four days of action, volunteers are also sort to assist with the running of this event. People to cook barbecues, serve food or to assist in the tournament box are all required and tennis knowledge is not a prerequisite.
