The new Rotary Club of Central Murray Sunrise was inducted on Sunday July 2.
The Rotary Club of Central Murray Sunrise celebrated its second changeover on Sunday, July 2 at the Golden Inn Chinese Restaurant at the Mulwala Water Ski Club.

The vision of Rotary is to provide high ethical standards and to advance worldwide understanding, goodwill and peace.
Under the leadership of Ken Yap, the club has made a significant contribution to the local community as well as engaging in numerous humanitarian projects in the Asia/Pacific regions.
It has established relationships with “Friends in Common”, Mulwala Lions Club and the Yarrawonga Mulwala RSL Sub-branch. All of whom have been recipients of financial assistance.
The club will be contributing to the refurbishment of a unit at the Yarrawonga RSL House and the construction of an uni-sex toilet at the P-12 Community Workshop.
Funds are derived from private donations and the conduct of BBQs at the Mulwala Rod Run, Bunnings and the running of the market at the Yarrawonga foreshore on the fourth Sunday of each month together with a BBQ.
Central Murray Sunrise Rotary also catered for participants and hosted a recent A’van Annual Gathering in Yarrawonga.
Rotary has a program called “Wheelchairs for Kids”. This initiative involves the provision of wheelchairs for children in the near pacific region who are unable to walk and would otherwise spend their lives on the ground.
The club have provided/donated 30 wheelchairs over the course of the past two years. This has facilitated the opportunity for children to attend school and lead productive and fulfilling lives.
At the cultural level the club hosted “Jazz by the Lake” in November 2022 at the Yarrawonga Yacht Club.
It has entered into a ‘sister club’ relationship with the Rotary Club of Jakarta Thamrin and is investigating a proposal to provide access to clean water to villages in the Tangerang Region of North-West Java.
Incoming President Jan Marshall was inducted to the position by the Rotary District’s Assistant Governor Paul Miegel.
Jan outlined her vision for the club in the next Rotary year.
She indicated her commitment to advancing the cause of Rotary in the community and to strengthen the commitment to maintain the family friendly culture with an emphasis on mutual support.
Past president Ken Yap passes over the reins to incoming president Jan Marshall.
The club was also pleased to welcome its guest speaker, Moira Shire Chair of Administrators Mr John Tanner AM.
John gave members an outline of the challenges associated with his role, the priorities of council and his commitment to conduct the affairs of council with transparency and a spirit of co-operation.
John spent some time responding to questions from the audience and indicated that the community should be assured that there is much cause for optimism for the future.
This changeover event highlighted the breadth of the club’s community service activities and a testament to its ongoing success.
There was also an induction of the Board of Directors for the 2023/2024 Rotary Year.
