Local sisters Izzy and Tess Ryan took the plunge and shaved their heads as part of the World’s Greatest Shave at the Mulwala Water Ski Club on Sunday.
The girls set a fundraising total of $5000 ($2500) each and up until Monday they have raised over $8600.

The sisters mum Kathy said it was a fantastic day and after her and husband Brant “Brutis” have ensured they keep the girls informed on Brutis’ condition after being diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 19, the girls decided they wanted to do something to make a difference to a cause that has made a difference to their fathers life.
Conner Rodgers donated $200 to cut off one of Izzy’s plaits.

Tess was originally going to cut her hair but decided to go all the way and shave it with Untangled Wiggs Owner Tegan Lee performing the duties.

“A lot of local people came to watch the girls get their heads shaved as well as a number of people who travelled; some of our friends came over from Shepparton to support the day,” Kathy said.
“Yarrawonga College P-12 offered for the girls to do it at school but with covid restrictions changing when they originally decided to go ahead with the shave, they wanted to do it somewhere where everyone could come along and enjoy the day.
“Izzy was always determined to shave while Tess was going to get the cut into a bob with an under shave but on the day, she thought, ‘I can’t pull back now, why not go the full way’.”
The girls raised money before the big day as well, visiting the Mulwala Water Ski Club on weekends with money tins while Sunday’s event alone raised $3000.
“People are still donating on Facebook which is fantastic,” Kathy said.
“We are just in talks with the foundation now to decipher where to go from here.”
