Concerned parent Tymika Weppner spoke of her concern regarding the lack of safety measures designed to protect students during drop-offs and pick-ups.
“Having no barrier between primary school children and the road on a designated truck route is extremely dangerous. A near miss is too close,” Mrs Weppner said.
“Our children have no safe way to get to and from school. This is an accident waiting to happen.
“Speeding drivers are a daily concern for parents and teachers.”
School principal Michael Greenaway has echoed similar worries regarding the lack of adequate safety measures to reduce unsafe driving.
“We have been campaigning the local shire, VicRoads, the local member, State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland and the Victorian Government’s transport and education ministers for assistance,” Mr Greenaway said.
“If the go-ahead were given today, the installation would be complete within three days.”
The school’s teachers and parents look forward to a decision being made by the government that would allow the children safe passage to and from school grounds.
“The total cost is about $80,000 to $90,000, including two sets of flashing signs that will display a maximum speed of 40km/h during pick-ups and drop-offs and a barrier fence, which will cost about $5000,” Mr Greenaway said.
“The school doesn’t even have a lollipop person to see the children safely enter and exit the grounds.”

State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland has called on the government to improve the safety around the primary school, saying the lack of action is placing children at risk.
“This Colbinabbin community has been campaigning on this issue for over a decade now,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Residents have made it very clear to me — this crossing is not safe for their children.
“They have told me of several near misses between the children and the heavy traffic and are rightfully concerned. Local families are so worried about the crossing that a parent roster has been created to safely get kids to and from school.
“The minister not seeing this as an urgent matter reflects the level of care this Labor government has for regional towns like Colbinabbin.”
Ms Cleeland has started a petition calling for the government to assess pedestrian and vehicle road safety around Colbinabbin Primary School.
She will raise the matter in the next sitting week of Parliament.
