TheNSW Seniors Festival is one of the state’s largest and longest‑running community celebrations, created to recognise the contributions older people make to their families, neighbourhoods and the broader community.

Held each year across NSW, the week encourages seniors to stay active, connected and engaged through a wide range of events, workshops and social activities delivered by councils, community groups and service organisations.
The initiative was established to highlight the value of older residents and to counter the isolation that many experience, particularly in regional and rural areas.
By offering accessible, low‑cost or free activities, the week aims to remove barriers to participation and ensure people of all backgrounds can take part.
Seniors Week also serves as a reminder of the important role older people play in shaping local communities.
Many are long‑time volunteers, carers, mentors and custodians of local history, and the week provides a platform to acknowledge that contribution publicly.
