The funding will support Moira FoodShare’s Regional Food Security for Rural and Remote Communities program, helping strengthen food relief services supporting families across the Yarrawonga and Mulwala communities while also assisting surrounding rural towns throughout northern Victoria and southern New South Wales.
CEO of Mulwala Water Ski Club Ltd Greg Roberts said the Club was proud to support an organisation delivering real support to local families.
“Mulwala Water Ski Club is deeply committed to strengthening the communities that support us,” Mr Roberts said.
“Moira FoodShare provides essential assistance to many families across Yarrawonga, Mulwala and the surrounding region, and we are proud to contribute to a program that ensures people facing hardship have access to nutritious food and support.”
Moira FoodShare operates under the umbrella of MHA Care Limited and works with local community organisations, neighbourhood houses and welfare agencies to deliver food relief where it is needed most.
CEO of MHA Care Limited Michael Hogan said partnerships like this were vital in supporting rural communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to Mulwala Water Ski Club for backing this important work,” Mr Hogan said.
“Rural communities face unique challenges when it comes to accessing affordable food, and partnerships with local organisations allow us to deliver practical solutions that directly support families.”
Moira FoodShare coordinator James Rouel said the grant would help ensure the organisation could continue responding to growing demand across the region.
“It’s partnerships like this that allow local organisations to respond quickly and ensure food reaches families who need it most,” he said.
Moira FoodShare distributes food through a network of community organisations and local partners, supporting thousands of residents each month across rural northern Victoria and southern New South Wales.
Both organisations look forward to working together to highlight the impact of the program and continue strengthening food security across the region.
