The community event aims to raise $100,000 for FightMND to support research into motor neurone disease.
“Together, Lisa Leeds and I are co-ordinating the Echuca-Moama Big Freeze,” Echuca-Moama Big Freeze co-coordinator Naomi Beasley said.
''Our role is to co-ordinate and deliver the Echuca-Moama Big Freeze, bringing the community together, amplifying awareness of MND, and contributing to the energy and momentum behind a meaningful, high-impact local event.''
The event holds personal significance for Mrs Beasley, who is organising it in honour of her mother.
“We’re doing this in honour of my mum, Lorna, who lost her battle with MND in 2002,” she said.
“Watching her suffer was devastating; it's something that never leaves you, and no family should have to go through that.
“We're driven to do everything we can, so others don't have to experience the same loss.”
The co-ordinators are receiving extensive support from Rich River Golf Club marketing and events manager Deanne Armstrong, as well as assistance from Lorna's Girls Team for Danihers Drive 2026.
“Supporting FightMND matters because motor neurone disease is one of the most devastating and underfunded diseases, and right now, there’s still no cure, meaning no hope,” Mrs Beasley said.
“If you are diagnosed with this disease there is only one outcome.
“At its core, MND progressively shuts down the nerves that control movement.
“People lose the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe, while their mind often remains fully aware.
“That’s what makes it so confronting, not just for those diagnosed, but for their families and communities.”
The main attraction of the day will be the Big Freeze slide, but there’s plenty more happening to make it a great community event.
Activities include a golf tournament with the chance to win a brand new MG HS Super Hybrid car, thanks to Echuca MG in the hole-in-one competition, a 100m sprint down the 18th hole in a Dash for Cash, and a junior golf clinic running from 11.30am.
Mini golf will be available from 11.30am to 3.30pm, with all proceeds going to the cause, there will be family-friendly activities such as a jumping pillow and Tex Mechanic Bull, EDGE FM will be broadcasting live, and attendees can enjoy a barbecue and drinks while watching Collingwood vs Melbourne live on the big screen.
At the Echuca Moama Big Freeze you have a chance to win a new MG HS Super Hybrid medium size SUV valved at $56,858 drive away in the Hole-in-One competition proudly sponsored by Echuca MG. Pictured are Naomi Beasley, Dee Armstrong and Lisa Leeds.

“This is a family-friendly event, so everyone is welcome,” Mrs Beasley said.
“We have a range of participants sliding down the slide, including those affected personally by MND through losing a loved one to the horrendous disease, local business owners and representatives, carers, medical professionals and public servants.”
The event is being held on Monday, June 8, with all the action starting from 11.30am.
Courtesy buses will be available on the day, with bookings required through reception on 5481 3333.
More information and registration details are available at richriver.com.au or on Facebook at Big Freeze Echuca/Moama or Instagram at bigfreeze.echucamoama.
“We would love to have additional businesses become a sponsor of the day or sponsor one of our events,” Mrs Beasley said.
