Congregational Church 1880 in Tom St. In 1962 it combined with the Methodist, then in 1977 combined with the Presbyterians to form the Uniting Church.
Early Yarrawonga Churches
The Christian church in early Australia provided a moral guide, living by Biblical teachings, thus establishing the Westminster system of civil governance.
Rev J D Robertson established this Presbyterian church in 1879. The original wooden church was replaced in 1929 by a brick building which in turn was replaced by the present Uniting Church building.

As in other parts of Australia’s new European settlement, the need for resident clergymen became apparent, to provide spiritual support through many pioneering challenges.
Several denominations were approached by Yarrawonga residents.
The Sacred Heart Roman Catholic wooden church was built on five acres of land purchased by the parishioners in 1883, on which the church, school and convent stand today. The church was replaced by a brick building in 1905.
The Congregational Union of Victoria was the first to respond. In 1877 Rev Pittman began leading services in the Apollo Hall.
St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church was first built in 1884 on the corner of Piper and Lynch streets. The ladies of the parish held many bazaars to raise funds, so by 1887 the church was paid for. In 1966 the current modern church was constructed.
Besides churches being built within the town, outlying districts also constructed churches. One example is the 1888 Presbyterian churches in Burramine, Bundalong and Telford, which was moved from Hill Plain in early 1888.
The Orr Street Church of Christ was opened in 1925. In 1996 a group of young families left the church to form the South Yarrawonga Christian Fellowship, now Ignite Life Church in Melaleuca St. The Orr Street congregation closed in 2017.

Methodists built this church in 1937, on the corner of Hume and McNally streets. When numbers declined, the congregation was absorbed into the Katamatite Methodist circuit. After the Uniting Church was formed in 1977, the building was sold to the Girl Guides Association.
