Will Crossley, Harrison Leetham, Edward Bliss, Jett Boyer, Charlie Murray and Henry Pisasale were accompanied by St Michael’s staff member Harry Hillier, who will be the runner and assistant coach for the Polding team.
Hillier was also one of the trial selectors.
Despite the nine hour trip, Hillier said the St Michael’s players all did well.
"What an amazing day we had at the Polding AFL trial in Warners Bay. We had six of our school boys make the long trip to Newcastle.
“They all trialled very well, showing tremendous resilience, effort and determination.
“The boys gave it their all and I could not be any prouder of them.”
Four of the six Deni students made it into the Polding team, representing their school and their local football clubs - Edward (Deni Rams), Jett (Deni Rovers), Charlie (Deni Rams) and Henry (Deni Rams).
“It was a very high standard of football, and to have four boys selected from the one school is just outstanding,” Hillier said.
“I am looking forward to seeing the boys showcase their determination and skills at the state carnival in June and to build bonds with the Polding boys as well as their competitors from around the state."
The Polding team will compete at the NSW PSSA State AFL Championships at Blacktown International Sportspark, from Wednesday, June 4 to Friday, June 6.
