Competitors took on a variety of distances with many attempting the half-marathon, some for the very first time.
Training began in November last year which included Sunrunner interval sessions at the JC Lowe Oval, plus cross training in the Spin Studio on the Wattbikes and the all-important strength sessions.
Coaches Meg and Cam were impressed by everyone’s results, especially the first timers.
“We love helping new runners get to the start line of an event and then see their face at the very end – it’s super rewarding”, Meg said.
“The team environment on the day was exceptional, with all runners supporting and cheering each other on. It’s great to be part of something so special.”
Coach Cameron added; “we always love taking a group over to Wang, it’s local and is one of the best organised events in the state.”
Leading by example, Cameron also took on the 21.1km event and achieved a personal best with an impressive time of 1hr19min.
Sunrunners next event is a trip to the Bright Fun Run on April 28.
“We encourage runners of all ages and abilities to come and join us on the day. More the merrier,” Cameron said.
