The club’s purpose is taking an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.
Funds are raised to assist those in need through weekly raffles, street stalls, catering and the sale of Lions Christmas cakes and puddings.
Tocumwal Lions Club supports youth with the Junior Public Speaking program, which involves the primary schools in the area. Local children excel in the program, which aims to build their confidence and skills for the future.
The club also arranges for students to attend the Lions Licola camp which is for children who otherwise might not be able attend a camp.
The Lions Club is involved in recycling with the collection of cans and bottles, old spectacles, hearing aids and postage stamps.
A project of the club is the Tocumwal Railway Museum, which is housed in the old Railway Station.
More volunteers are required to help keep the museum open regularly. Anyone with an interest in local history or the railway is invited to volunteer.
The upkeep of the local lawn cemetery and skate park also keeps members busy.
Membership is open to all community minded people and enquiries are always welcome.
The club meets the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Lions Club Function Rooms - opposite the hospital in Adams St, Tocumwal - at 4.30pm.
All requests and enquiries can be directed to the secretary on 0417 868 498, tocumwal.nsw@lions.org.au or via mail to PO Box 110 Tocumwal.
