Organisers expect the walk to have raised close to $5,000 to go directly to Australian research institutions for ongoing Cord Blood research.
The retiring Cord Blood Research coordinator, June Lavis, welcomed Tim McCurdy MP, his wife Glenys and more than 80 enthusiastic participants.
The Cord Blood Research ambassadors, Helen and Possum Purtle, cut the starting ribbon to get the walkers on their way and all speakers expressed the importance of Cord Blood research in developing many lifesaving treatments.
Many organisations helped make the walk a success: Mulwala Water Ski Club, Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort, Central Murray Bank, MacPherson Legal, Purtle Electrical, Debbie’s Mansfield Group, Woolworths and Bunnings.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Inner Wheel Club is very grateful for such wonderful support.
And they’re off - walkers set off from Yarrawonga Yacht Club to Chinaman’s Island.
