Although she didn’t consider volunteering when she first walked through the club’’s doors in 2006, Vicky is now a member of the board.
These days she overlooks the matchday roster of 50 volunteers, made up of players, board members and relatives who are needed to make sure things go smoothly.
From serving sausage rolls at the canteen to manning the entrance gate, the club sings out to players to lend a hand when possible.
Vicky said she finds satisfaction in seeing the development of netballers and footballers.
“I love seeing young men and women fill their full potential, it gives you a great connection to the community,” she said.
“There's such excitement around the club when you have a grand final win, you know you are doing something right.”
With almost 20 years as a club volunteer, Vicky’s Thursday nights and Saturdays were spent lending a hand across the Pigeons’ football and netball programs.
She also spends an hour each day posting photos and clips on the club’s social media pages.
The club always welcomes new volunteers. If you are interested, email info@yfnc.com.au
