Although previously working at Thales before giving shift work away to take over Hicks Butchery, some of you may remember Cade from Belmore Butchers.
Although Cade left the meat industry in 2010 he has settled well back into butcher life and has been busy increasing the variety with his fellow butchers, Glen Ingrim and Ken Jenson.
Glen has been a butcher for over 40 years and has certainly mastered his trade. Glen enjoys what he does and is proud to help provide some of the best quality meat in the region.
Whilst Ken also has a long outstanding butcher background throughout his life he also successfully managed Olivers at Knox City for over 25 years.
You will not be disappointed with the quality and variety these three butchers are putting out at Hicks Butchers.
There is a wide variety of top-quality meats on offer at Hicks Butchery.
Prue also has similar work experience, having been assistant manager of the deli at Woolworths. You may be familiar with having seen her in the deli and butchers. Prue has a background of seafood and fresh meats.
“We hope to eventually introduce a frozen seafood range and general frozen range with easy dinner options into the shop,” Prue said.
“We understand people are busy, our lives are busy. Who wants to spend hours in the kitchen after a day’s work not to mention kids sports. A range to suit your busy lifestyle is coming,” Prue said.
"When we saw the business was for sale we thought it was a good opportunity. My brother worked here when Allan had it. We know the potential this shop has,” Cade said.
“We stock a wide range of quality meat at an affordable price. The feedback from customers has all been very positive. They are happy to see new cuts and happy with the range that is available to them.
“We also offer a variety of pre heat meals which are value for money, hearty and convenient as well as several pizza options. We are gradually trying to increase this range and learn what people want more of.”
Prue and Cade have continued to support a great number of businesses and groups around town and with a great community presence the clientele is building which in turn also means additional businesses, groups and organisations are also assisted by Hicks Butchery.
Their trading hours have also changed: Monday to Thursday they are open 7.30-6pm. Friday 7.30-5.30pm and Saturday 7am - 1pm. They have also been opening on Sundays 9-12pm.
“We will continue to open on the occasional Sunday. Not all Sundays. But please check in with us about our Sunday openings,” Prue said.
The easiest way to keep up to date with the shop news is either by popping in to say hi at 109 Melbourne Street Mulwala or follow Hicks Butchery Facebook page.”
