What a week on court, the weather really tested the resolve of players but the ongoing lure of that “hoop-in-one” was so strong, players soldiered on.

It was hard to believe spring has sprung with very low temperatures, rain and gusty winds making conditions very challenging for all players on court this week.
The best weather was Tuesday, September 3 with 19 members competing and enjoying strong challenges in all games.
Congratulations to Margaret Quail who was the winner with 18 hoops, it was great to see Margaret at the club for the day.
There have been many tight tussles over recent weeks and Tuesday was yet another for the runners-up, with Helen Spakman and Janet Rosser making 17 hoops each, a very close run finish.
Thursday, September 5 was the Monthly Medal competition and Club Captain Barb Haigh was very pleased with both Division 1 and Division 2 having 6 competitors playing.
Each player plays three games of singles and the winners were Cheryl O’Dwyer in Division 1 with 21 hoops and in Division 2 Heather Oliver won with 20 hoops, congratulations to both ladies.
Club play on Friday was interrupted by rain after one game unfortunately, however the 20 players made the most of conditions and the opportunity for some great conversation.
The tough conditions did not stop first time player Robbie Wickham making 3 hoops, fantastic effort indeed.
Saturday was freezing. Regardless, 11 players braved the conditions for two games with Brian Archer finishing on 17 hoops followed by Lorraine Grantham on 14 hoops.
Another great week of play at the club and well done to all participants.
Friends in Common will be the recipients this year of the proceeds from the annual Social Day being held on September, September 10 when the croquet club are hosting 40 plus players from local and surrounding croquet clubs.
The croquet club is very pleased to be able to support this and other vital locally based charities.
The Committee are very appreciative once again for all the willing volunteers who assist in making such events possible.
Excellent to have another Sacred Heart College student group visiting to play on Monday, September 9. Perhaps the club need a junior competition soon?
Seniors Week is coming in October, stay tuned for information about the club activities.
