Sixty women golfers from Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort played on the Lake Course but there was added excitement when trainee professionals Frazer Droop and Dale Crothers gave the ladies a head start on two holes.
If a lady agreed to buy a $5 raffle ticket, Frazer would tee off on the Par 3, 12th hole. ‘Let’s see if he can get you a Hole-in-One’ the sign advised the ladies. For a gold coin donation, Dale would hit off on the Ninth, Par 4 hole. A sign read: ‘Be dazzled by the drive Dale will hit for you’.
Subsequent shots for those tee shots were played by the women.
But, no extra shot was required by Elaine Bellis after Frazer aced the challenging, uphill 12th hole. It went into the hole, resulting in a wonderful score of one-for-six points for an elated Elaine!
“There were plenty of birdies and pars, for three, four or five points,” third and final year trainee Frazer told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
First year trainee Dale gave the ladies a big start on the ninth, often blasting the tee shot over or past the fairway mound a long way from the tee-stand.
“It was good fun, to interact with the ladies and have some laughs,” Frazer said. “They’ve all been great to us and great supporters of us.”
The fun day raised about $500 for breast cancer research and the four-day state championships from May 7 to 10.
