With the continued support of wonderful farmers, the annual wool show had greater numbers and better-quality fleeces than last year.
In total the Yarrawonga Lions had 65 to judge and a thank you to Peter Burn for making the hard decisions. For the next two years proceeds of the sale of the fleeces will be donated to local CFA brigades.
This year it will be distributed to Victorian brigades and next year sales to NSW brigades.
The Yarrawonga Lions Club would like to thank Elders for their support of this project, every year they donate dollars which they use for the prizes.
The use of their advertising signs brightens up the display and once again they are fortunate to have such a long history of support from them.
Tim Roadley from Bunnings was set up with children’s activities making Shorn the Sheep cut outs, always a draw card as kids love craft and the ability to take something home.
Thanks Tim.
Just for something different, the usual catering menu took on an Oktoberfest theme. The German sausage and sauerkraut rolls proved very popular, as did the pretzels.
Members got in the mood by dressing up and decorating the gazebo and it would not have been complete without some “oom pah pah” music.
A great day all around with lots of laughs.
Congratulations to everyone and below are the successful farmers:
