Yarrawonga 62 defeated North Albury 39.
The best of the Pigeon’s ladies got themselves back on the winner’s list this week with a convincing win over the improving Hoppers.
The game got off to a fantastic start, with impressive passages of play and multiple turnovers converting to scoring opportunities seeing an 11-goal lead to the home team at the first break.
North Albury fought back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, however the leadership and experience of best on court Bec Carlyle and co-coach Laura Irvine directing the play meant that the Yarra girls were able to pull away again in a super impressive final term, and despite multiple changes from the visitors, they had no answers to shut down Elle Brooks, who shot an impressive 50 goals.
Finals contentions are one step closer as the Yarra girls were eventual 23 goal winners.
Best: Bec Carlyle and Laura Irvine.

The leadership and positive talk by best on court Jac and Kaitlyn Cummins in the mid-court helped solidify the top spot for this team, who can look towards finals with excitement and confidence.

The C graders didn’t miss a beat this week with an extremely convincing win over the Hoppers by 31 goals.

Eliza York was unstoppable in goals, sinking an incredible 53 from 61 attempts at 87% accuracy.
Ever-reliable best on court Tayla Bogle was everywhere in defence and through the mid-court, chasing every ball, rebounding strongly and causing turnover after turnover in combination with co-coach Jen Buerckner.
This win sees C grade sitting comfortably in third position heading towards finals.
Best: Tayla Bogle and Eliza York.
Under 16s
Yarrawonga 30 defeated by North Albury 40.
A close game for the young Pigeons girls again this week, in spectacular winter conditions with a good crowd in attendance.
The improvement of this team is remarkable from week to week and this game was no different.
The Hoppers girls got away early in the first, but a great fightback lead by best on court Eloise Lynch saw the home team stem the flow of goals and win the second quarter, going into half time only 3 goals down.
Defence-machine Macey Hicks was instrumental in the defence end and through the mid-court, with hands over everything and multiple tips being chased down effectively.
In the end, despite the loss it was an impressive effort by this team of committed players, with everyone taking the court pushing themselves for the entire four quarters.
Best: Eloise Lynch and Macey Hicks.
