In light of the return to stage three restrictions across regional Victoria, Nanneella Memorial Hall committee and Nanneella Community Incorporated presented $600 to Nanneella Estate Primary School and $400 to the Nanneella playgroup.
“We couldn't be more thankful for the generosity of both groups,” Nanneella Estate Primary principal Ian Denson said.
“Our students, like all in Victoria, have missed out on so much this year.
“Between cancelling school camps, events and special activities throughout this year, the students will have something to smile about.”
Memorial Hall committee president Brett Gledhill said the decision was a no-brainer.
“We had discussions with both groups and knew we needed to help them out,” he said.
“There are a lot of struggling parents and families and we wanted to help them in any way we can.”
Nanneella playgroup president Shannyn Nichol said the group was excited to spoil the children when they were allowed to come back.
“We have been closed since the first lockdown,” she said.
“We want to use the money to buy some craft supplies and provide fun activities for the kids when they come back.
“My son has been missing playgroup so much, the socialisation is important to the kids and we look forward to being able to provide the service as soon as we can.
“We appreciate the support we're getting from the community.”
The school is planning to use the money to create a special surprise for the students.
“We don't want to give anything away just yet, but we're hoping to give the students something they can remember this time by,” Mr Denson said.
“These are unprecedented times, but we hope this will give the students some happy memories as well.”
