Two Victorian cabinet ministers announcing their retirements from the front bench have remarked on the state government’s investment in roads.

Their statements stand in conflict with an outpouring of criticism from rural stakeholders complaining about the poor standard of regional roads.
Former Energy and Resources Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said in her statement announcing her departure from cabinet, “the major investments that have been made in roads, rail and buses, schools and sporting clubs, the Northern Hospital and women’s health have all been made by Labor governments because what matters to the local communities and working people sits at the core of the Labor Party.”
Meanwhile, former Water Minister Harriet Shing in her announcement, highlighted work done on “the schools, TAFE campuses, hospitals, roads, rail, and kinders we have built and upgraded.”
Both former ministers announced their shift from cabinet following the departure of former premier Jacinta Allan, and the election of new premier Ben Carroll.
